Not to my knowledge, but it depends on what side effects you are thinking about?
When you think about the context of prevention of sexually transmitted diseases including HIV, abstinence is actually encouraged, unless you have mutual agreement to be faithful in a monogamous relationship.
Promiscuity/sexual indiscretions probably have more “side effects” than abstinence, in my humble opinion..

Side effects, well not that I know. But, it is probably better to be safe than sorry! There are many reasons why abstinence is encouraged. For instance, approximately 29% of all new HIV infections in Kenya are among adolescents and youth, and in that sense, abstinence would make sense or just protecting yourself.
